Through the API, one standard AI image costs 1¢ to 13¢ — so $1 buys anywhere from 7 to 100 images. In the ChatGPT and Gemini apps, a limited number is free. Prices verified October 2026.

At standard quality, Muse Image from Meta is the cheapest at 1¢ per image — about 100 images for $1. OpenAI's GPT Image 2.5 at low quality is 0.59¢.

Uploading a photo to transform it adds input charges on top of the output image: xAI adds $0.01 per input image on Grok Imagine 2.0, and Google bills input images as tokens (about $0.0006 per photo on Nano Banana 2). OpenAI bills input images as tokens but does not publish how many a photo uses.
